Nairobi to Samburu | First Wildlife Encounters & Sunset Magic
Your safari begins as we meet you at the airport or your Nairobi hotel for a warm welcome and a short orientation. Once you're ready, we set off by road toward the rugged northern plains — a scenic drive through changing landscapes as Kenya slowly reveals its wilder side. You’ll arrive in Samburu just in time for lunch at your lodge, where the warm air and whispering acacias set the tone for your romantic escape.
In the afternoon, we head out for your first game drive across Samburu National Reserve. This region is home to the Samburu Special Five — Grevy’s zebra, reticulated giraffe, Somali ostrich, gerenuk, and Beisa oryx — along with elephants, lions, cheetahs, and more. As the sun dips behind the red hills, you return to the lodge for dinner and a peaceful night in the wild.

After breakfast, we depart Samburu and begin our journey toward the world-renowned Ol Pejeta Conservancy. The drive offers beautiful views of Mt. Kenya as you transition from the arid north to the lush, open plains of the Laikipia Plateau. Upon arrival, enjoy lunch before heading out for an exciting afternoon game drive.
Your visit includes a special stop at the Sweetwaters Chimpanzee Sanctuary — the only place in Kenya to see rescued chimpanzees. Later, continue exploring Ol Pejeta’s thriving wildlife, including elephants, lions, black and white rhinos, and large herds of plains game. After your adventure, settle into your tented lodge for a cozy evening.
